What gets removed: Author name, software info, creation date, modification date, comments and annotations (optional), and redundant whitespace in content streams.

Limitations: Browser-based compression works best on PDFs with large metadata overhead. PDFs that already have compressed image streams will see modest size reductions. For maximum image compression, consider re-printing to PDF from the source document.

How much will my PDF be compressed?+
Results vary by PDF type. Text-heavy PDFs with lots of metadata can shrink by 20-40%. Scanned PDFs or PDFs with already-compressed images may only reduce by 5-15%.
Will compression affect PDF quality?+
No. This tool only removes metadata and optimises the PDF structure — it does not re-encode or degrade images, text, or fonts in any way.
Is there a file size limit?+

Why is the compressed file the same size or larger?+
If your PDF was already optimised (e.g. exported from Adobe Acrobat Pro), there's little metadata overhead to remove. The file may be marginally larger due to re-serialisation overhead.
